The rear-end body styling introduced in 1970 continued unchanged into 1979, but Jeep incorporated a one-piece bumper front and rear. This bumper could be had with or without rub strips and bumper-guards, as seen in these two photos. The lower aluminum trim panel was still found on the lower portion of the tailgate, though its design varied from year to year, and the license-plate hood carried a block-letter "Wagoneer" logo. Also visible in both pictures are the Class-III hitches that Wagoneers were frequently outfitted with from the factory. These factory tow-hitches were part of a "tow-package" option that included a transmission cooler and steeper final-drive ratio to better suit the Wagoneers to the rigorous duty of trailer-towing.
